Advantages Of Installing LED Lighting in Your Home
|
LED lighting is now taking Singapore’s interior decoration
industry by storm. In the past, major complaint against LED
lights was that they were dim. Led light manufacturers in
Singapore have come up with designs that make LED lights
resemble traditional lighting systems, both in looks as well
as function. The list of such innovative products include
LED strips, LED bulbs, LED tube lights, LED central
decoration lights, and LED down facing lights. Luminosity
from these designed LED lights can now be brought to the
levels that are comparable to conventional lights,
effectively rendering traditional lighting systems almost
redundant. Conventional lighting systems mainly consist of
fluorescent lights and incandescent lights. These types of
lights have several disadvantages, which are addressed in
LED lighting systems.
Today, most of the lights in Singapore’s commercial
establishments, offices, hospitals, shops, and even streets
are LED lights. Interior designers have come up with
creative LED lighting for home, which not only serve the
function of lighting up the room, but also add beauty and
peaceful ambience that was hard to achieve with either
florescent or incandescent bulbs. Amongst the myriad of
advantages that LED lighting offers, following five are the
most prominent ones and easily perceptible ones too.
a. Lower utility bills
Time and again LED lights manufacturers and retailers have
advertised that these lights save on energy. This,
fortunately, is true because LED lighting cuts down those
power bills. If you opt for LED lighting for home, then
chances are that you can save almost 8 times of your
lighting bills if you are switching from incandescent to LED
lighting, and twice if you are switching from florescent
lighting to this form of lighting.
Traditional lighting systems tend to create a glare because
light from these systems is spread almost evenly across a
larger area, causing reflection from a lot of objects in the
room. Obviously, such excessive luminosity is unnecessary
everywhere, but people have little choice but to pay for it.
In contrast, LED lighting installation can be done in such a
way that clusters of LED bulbs can be used in areas of the
room which require more light, and subdued lighting may be
achieved in other parts of the room where less light is
adequate. This differentiation can also be done based on the
function of the room. In Singapore, standard norms of LED
lighting for home are 100 lux for restrooms and bedrooms,
300 lux for study and kitchen and 200 lux for other rooms
including foyer, sitting, and dining rooms.
Higher luminosity is achieved through strips or tube lights
made from smaller LED lights. These may be affixed under the
kitchen cabinets to provide enough light on work table,
effectively preventing wastage of light.
b. Long lasting bulbs and LED installations
LED lighting for home makes financial sense because these
bulbs and installation are long lasting. Unlike conventional
incandescent bulbs, which on an average have a lifespan of
about 1,500 hours, an LED bulb has a lifespan of almost
30,000 to 60,000 hours. This is a very desirable feature
since expenses on bulbs can virtually disappear from monthly
or even annual home budgets. Even if interiors warrant
multiple units of LED lighting installation, the costs will
not be very high, and neither will be the energy bill.
c. Considerably resistant to temperature, shock, and
vibrations
Both incandescent as well as fluorescent bulbs are made from
delicate glass and filaments. These are fragile and break
easily. They most certainly cannot stand excessive shocks,
vibrations, and temperature. In contrast, the enclosure or
the tube of LED lighting is made from epoxy resin.
Therefore, it is less likely shatter or break like
florescent or incandescent bulbs. This factor also makes LED
lighting for home safer, because there is less likelihood of
splinters remaining on floor and injuring anybody at home.
d. Less heat generated in the room when compared to
incandescent lights
This is crucial considering that Singapore can touch 35
degrees Celsius in summers. If people choose to have LED
lighting for home, they would not be adding to this
temperature. In contrast, people who choose to install
incandescent or florescent lights would find the room
temperature in their homes increasing by a degree or two,
thanks to those lights. Correspondingly, their air
conditioning bills will also be higher.
e. Decorations possible with this form of light
People can opt for colored LED lighting for home, based on
what their interiors dictate periodically. This was not
possible with traditional lighting without using some
environmentally harmful components. The list of designer LED
lighting installation for home includes chandeliers,
centerpieces, spot lights, etc. Several smaller bulbs are
integrated within the main the unit be it bulb, tube, strip,
etc., for creating such LED lighting units with higher
luminosity. Even underwater varieties are available in
Singapore, enabling people to decorate their swimming pools
as well.
